Hey there, it’s Harper 👋
You know I’m all about that polished, custom-wall look — and the truth is, wall molding is one of the simplest ways to get there. Whether you’re working with pre-cut panels (like the ones I use from Moldart!) or crafting your own layout, the key to a beautiful result is installation done right.

Let me walk you through my full process, step by step — no stress, just gorgeous walls ahead. ✨
🪄 Step 1: Lay out the Panels on the Floor
Before anything touches the wall, I always lay the panels out on the floor, according to the design plan. It helps me visualize the final look and make sure every length and joint fits perfectly.

🔍 Tip: Molding strips come pre-cut at 45° angles from Moldart — once joined, they create that seamless frame finish we love.
🧼 Step 2: Clean and Prepare the Wall
Dust and grease are your enemy here! Make sure the wall is completely clean and dry.

🧻 I also use painter’s tape to outline the full layout right on the wall. This gives me a perfect visual guide for mounting.

📏 Step 3: Use Spacers for Consistency
Uniform spacing = professional results.
I always use a wooden spacer block to make sure each panel sits evenly. Even a small gap difference throws off the balance — and your eye will notice.

🧪 Step 4: Apply Adhesive and Mount the Panels
Grab your liquid nail adhesive (this is the only type I trust) and apply a solid zig-zag pattern to the back of each molding piece.
Then:
Press the molding firmly onto the wall
Hold for 20–30 seconds
Use painter’s tape or temporary supports to keep it in place while drying

⚠️ Don’t use silicone for adhesion — it’s only good for gap sealing, not holding trim!
🖇️ Optional: Assemble Panels on the Floor
Want extra control? You can pre-assemble frames on the floor using quick-dry glue and paper tape, then mount the full piece as one unit.

🔫 Bonus for Durability:
For added strength — especially on long or heavy pieces — I sometimes use a nail gun to tack the molding into place. Just a couple of discreet nails make everything more secure without damaging the look.
🎨 Painting Your Molding
All Moldart moldings are factory-primed, so there’s no need for sanding (yay!). You can paint them before or after installation, depending on what’s easiest for you.

🪛 Step 5: Final Touches
Use caulk to fill any tiny gaps between the molding and wall. If you used nails, cover the holes with putty. Then paint touch-ups as needed for that crisp, seamless finish.

⚙️ Tools You’ll Need:
Spirit level
Liquid nail adhesive
Brad nail and nail gun
Silicone sealant
Blue painter's tape
Measuring tape

Laser Level (optional)
✅ Summary
Installing wall molding is one of the most satisfying upgrades I’ve done in my home. When you follow the steps — layout, prep, spacing, adhesion, and finishing — you get a result that looks high-end and holds up beautifully.
Whether you’re after that classic picture-frame style or something more geometric, Moldart panels make it easy to DIY like a designer.
